MixW Files for the EPC PSK63 QSO Party 2009

MixW LogoDear Fellow PSK Contesters!

Victor, RA3BB has created a new set of files for MixW data mode software to make your particiapation in the EPC PSK63 QSO Party most enjoyable. You can download this set of files at Victor's website at http://www.digitalrus.ru or directly from this link at our server.

Unzip the files, and place all of them into the Plugins folder of the MixW software. That's it, nothing else is required to be done apart from the correct contest setup as described at our website. After this cunning modification MixW will automatically update EPC data files (call.dat and epc.dom) every time you run the software.

At the moment we have approximately 9,700 call signs in 159 DXCC countries World Wide registered with the European PSK Club. All six continents are represented. We hope that this year the EPC PSK63 QSO Party will be busier than ever. Have a nice weekend guys, and see you all in the Party on Sunday, 22nd November, 2009!

New Look of the EU Areas List

EU Areas Award LogoWe have changed a look of the EPC European Areas (EU Areas) List. The list is based on the former and present administrative geography of European countries (depends on the country). Administrative geography concerns itself with the hierarchy of areas relating to national governments in Europe. This hierarchy is complicated for not only are there several layers but the structure is different in each European country. In addition the boundaries of many of the layers in the hierarchy are subject to periodic or occasional change. Each EU Area has a unique two-letter and two-numbers abbreviation based on its official English name. These are used along with the full EU Area name on the local language as well. Be aware that these abbreviations are not an official standard, sanctioned by any international body. They are intended for EPC awards and contests use. There are 1199 current entities in the list in total. Eventually this list will be updated to more accurate list in the near future. Contacts made to claim EU Areas are considered at the time of application. If the previously worked EU Area became a deleted entity, it will be counted under the new created EU Area depending on the location of the worked station. The EPC European Areas (EU Areas) can be seen at the EPC Award Series Section on our website.

"Maritime Mobile" Imagination of UR3LTD in the CIS DX QPSK63 Contest 2009

Have you ever tried to feel yourself as a maritime mobile station being away from the water? Andy, UR3LTD (EPC # 7283) did that during the passed CIS DX QPSK63 Contest 2009. His temporary QTH was 40 km away from Kharkiv. And guess what? Andy's shack was in a small boat laying in a garage. Andy says: "I had two reasons to go portable with my radio. The reason one is that I couldn't miss the contest. And the reason two is that my wife wished to go away from the city to have a good sunny weekend before the oncoming slushy autumnal season in East Ukraine". Andy made approximately 120 contacts. Himself and his family enjoyed very much that weekend at their friends'  projected lodge. Location details for those who made QSOs with UR3LTD/p are: Grid Locator KO70WD (35.91E, 50.15N), EU Area UR11,  QTH Ridny Kray. Please have a look at the Flash Album below. Andy thanks all of you for support in the contest. Andy runs a web site of the Ukrainian EPC Section at http://epc-ukraina.ucoz.com
