The Worked All Continents PSK Award Series (WACPA) is an amateur radio award given to those amateur radio operators who successfully complete two-way PSK amateur radio communications with other amateur radio stations located in each of six continental areas of the world. For the purposes of the award, the continental areas are: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania (including Australia), and South America. Please note that there is an important discrepancy with DXCC «continent» standards. EPC hold the opinion that Europe includes all the Ural Mountains and the Greater Caucasus (not least Mount Elbrus, which would be the highest point in Europe), while the Lesser Caucasus are located entirely in Asia. Russia and Kazakhstan have both European (western) and Asian (eastern) parts. The Turkish city Istanbul lies in both Europe and Asia; effectively making it a transcontinental city. The basic WACPA award is earned by submission of ADIF log of two-way PSK amateur radio contacts using any combination of HF (including 50MHz) radio bands. Applicant's ADIF log must be submitted to qualify. Specialty awards are available for working all continents on 5 bands (3.5, 7, 14, 21 and 28 MHz), WARC bands (10, 18 and 24 MHz), or any single band. WACPA awards may be claimed by SWL/DMS stations as well. EPC membership is required for the award applicants. All contacts must be made on PSK modes only since January 1, 2000. QSL-cards are not required. Awards are issued to the person or club. The person or club can use any legal call sign. Contacts made from club stations or special event stations count to the credit of both the club and the operator. All stations must be operated in accordance with their licensing conditions. Contacts may be made from any location in the same DXCC country. Credit will be given for contacts made on any of the amateur bands below 54 MHz. Confirmations from the EPC Short Wave Listeners and Digital Monitoring Stations are accepted as confirmed contacts. All stations contacted must be «land based stations». Contacts with ships and boats, anchored or underway, and airborne aircraft, cannot be counted. For the purposes of this award, remote control operating points must also be land based.
Since 1st June 2008 all claims for the EPC awards should be made using our UltimateEPC Award Management Software written by DK5UR. The award applicant should re-submit his application when claiming for higher classes of awards. The award manager will keep all your records in our database. Please make sure before you submit your ADIF log that you have checked it with the appropriate software. |
